Hungary - March 1945

Men of the 9. SS linked up with other remaining soldiers of the SS and Heer for a final attempt at breaking through Soviet lines. With a StuG III to give support, German forces bust through initial defenses and begin their assault. From there, it's a slow and dangerous trek attempting to dislodge the enemy through tough terrain while under heavy mortar and artillery fire. Although the Germans sustained heavy casualties, Soviet forces were successfully pushed back to the Danube River. There is little time to celebrate, as the few remaining must prepare for the inevitable counter-attack.

The 9th had a great time at Odessa this past weekend. Our first real event since the lock-downs began. It was great to see such good attendance too, looks like everyone was just as excited to get back onto the field as we were. A lot of monkey business was had, the Soviets were great as always to shoot at, and our fearless KB was able to get some beautiful photographs of the event. We're finally warming back up, re-learning what we forgot, and are ready as ever to take on the future. Not to jinx it, but Reading WW2 Weekend is back on for June. We hope to see you all there.
